It's all Spotify, iTunes and similar online trash integration with insufficient features for a local music library, or the UI just isn't usable for a large local music library. Trust me, I'm literally aching, for years, to find something suitable built on a more recent codebase, but it just isn't there. Any other player I ever found either missed one of these features, or was bloated with a million of online services that couldn't be shut up. Winamp (with the Bento skin) offers all of these and works entirely offline (all winamp online features like artwork lookups and shoutcast streams are optional, if you block it completely at the firewall the software still works perfectly). I only need a few things from my player: it has to be able to index my large music library and offer various search options, it has to be able to play mp3, ogg and flac files, it has to have a decent UI, and it has to be free of any corporate integration. ![]() ![]() Over the years I have often looked for something better, but always had to conclude nobody made anything better.
